Zoom In Office Teeth Whitening
This procedure is designed to lighten the colour of teeth using a combination of a bleaching gel and a specially designed ultraviolet lamp. The Zoom! treatment involves using the gel and lamp in conjunction with each other to produce maximum whitening results in the shortest possible time. During the procedure, the whitening gel will be applied to your teeth and your teeth will be exposed to the light from the Zoom! Lamp for three, 15-minute sessions. During the entire treatment, a plastic retractor will be placed in your mouth to help keep it open and the soft tissues of your mouth (i.e., my lips, gums, cheeks and tongue) will be covered to ensure they are not exposed to the gel. After the treatment is completed, the retractor and all gel and tissue coverings will be removed from the mouth. Before and after the treatment, the shade of your upper-front teeth will be assessed and recorded.
Patients are advised to stay away from pigmented foods and drink for 3 days to a week. Patients are also advised not to smoke for a few days after. Sensitivity may occur in some patients but is limited to 24hr-48hrs post whitening and should last no longer. Our patients love Zoom In Office Teeth Whitening!
There is no damage to teeth after a whitening treatment. Teeth may be sensitive for a limited period of time for some patients for 24-48hrs. This should normalise thereafter. We do give patients pre and post sensitive gels to apply to the teeth in order to prevent sensitivity.
The effects of the bleaching may last for an extensive time in most patients. If you have a diet rich in pigment containing foods e.g. Curries, red wine, coffee as well as a habit of smoking your teeth shade may regress back to normal quicker. In order to prevent this you can opt for a maintenance kit for longer lasting results.
Regular brushing and flossing are an essential in order to maintain your newly whitened teeth.
